In the Beginning...
The work to obtain a bank started in June of 1972 when a group of eleven
local businessmen got together to discuss the possibility of opening
a bank to service the needs of the local community. The groups
goal was to have a bank that met the community needs as well as being
truly community owned.
After much hard
work and diligence, approval was granted by the State Banking Department
and FDIC insurance was obtained in August of 1976 to form the First
Bank of Snook. The stock was then issued at $25 per share giving the
bank total capital of $500,000 on opening day. In 1996, a new building
was built to support the increasing number of employees needed during
this growing time period. A Loan Production Office was established in
College Station the fall of 1998, which soon became a full service branch
in January 1999.
First
Bank of Snook provides the community with many different services. The
mortgage lending officers are located at the College Station Branch (625
University Drive East). They provide
customers with new construction, commercial, and conventional mortgage
loans. Other services that are available at the bank include checking,
savings, certificate of deposits, and MasterCard check cards. Be a part of
